      Who are we?

The Stroke Program at Palmyra Medical Centers is regional in scope and focuses on stroke and stroke treatment plus rehabilitation and support for stroke survivors.

A primary function and goal of the program is education and prevention. It is important to understand the risk factors and evaluate a persons lifestyle in relation to those factors. Our staff will play a major role through ongoing educational programs and frequent health screenings in teaching the community about this major health problem.

At Palmyra a team of highly trained professionals can diagnose and treat any type of stroke. This team is available 24-hours-per-day to provide immediate treatment which is critical to prevent any further damage. They evaluate stroke patients by conducting initial and follow-up assessments of medical and neurological problems and study functional health patterns and complications. In addition, they will review social and environmental factors that may influence treatment decisions. Many stroke victims require assistance in adjusting to some disability after their stroke. Palmyra Regional Rehabilitation Center can determine if the patient is a candidate for rehab. They outline specific treatment programs designed to meet the needs of the individual. Palmyra Rehab, the most comprehensive rehab center in South Georgia, offers a team of physicians and therapists all trained to help stroke patients regain as much normal function as possible or help them adapt to any disability caused by a stroke.
